When you want your lights to turn on and off automatically,
we usually think about using smart lights and a motion sensor.
But when you stay still in a room,
the motion sensor doesn’t detect you anymore and turns off the lights.
In this case you need a presence sensor,
but they usually don’t come to you.
That’s why Sonoff sent me their super cheap presence sensor.
I wanted to automate the lights in my bathroom
and since the pricey sensor would have been overkill,
I used the Sonoff 1. My honest opinion it works great,
sometimes even too much. It’s super sensitive
so I placed it in a drawer
to make it not detect me outside of the room.
It’s Zigbee based and works with Zigbee to MQTT,
ZHA and Home Assistant right out of the box.
I’m honestly impressed by how powerful this device is
