Analyzing the Impact of Wind Gusts on Car Safety: A Meteorologist’s Perspective

Yeah, and honestly, um,
you have to wonder if. And there was a meteorologist on,
on Twitter who, um,
theorized this. And I wish I had saved the tweet cause I,
it was just in my timeline,
I lost it. So I’m sorry to not give credit where it’s due,
but talking about the wind gust that I was mentioning earlier
about almost blowing my hat off,
I was having to hold on to my hat on pit road.
The wind gusts were coming from that direction.
So, you know,
it could be possible as simple as like, hey,
he had an extra,
I think the meteorologist saying like 30 miles per hour wind,
you know, coming under his car essentially when he turned.
And maybe that’s enough to flip it over.
I don’t know. They’ll have to look at it,
but, um,
Denny Hamlin did defend the car, um,
after the race. He said in the,
his post race press conference, um,
I feel like we are pretty safe in rollover situations.
It seems like between that and intrusions,
that’s kind of the strong point of the next gen car.
He talked about how, you know,
Priest’s wreck largely unscathed,
except for the bloody eyes at Daytona.
Um, and so Denny said,
I, as a driver,
I haven’t rolled one over,
but I would almost rather roll one over
than hit a wall head on at that speed,
because I think you’re at least getting rid of energy
as You were tumbling
