when you are a woman or an underrepresented person in a group
if you walk to a team or group and they underestimate you
like you can feel that
you can feel that energy you can feel when they just don’t expect you to do well
and so as a race car driver
when that happens it doesn’t happen on every team
but when it does happen
it’s like there’s that extra little work that I have to do to earn their respect
and to make them wanna work as hard as possible
and this race weekend was a little different
cause I had sponsors that really believed in me
I had the team that believed in me
and I think it was really cool
to show that to all the women who were in the stands
and the girls who were there
that like a girl can do this too
