Breeding a New Blooming Variety: A Celosia Cross-Pollination Experiment

Last year
I noticed a type of celosia growing in the middle of the aisle
that I had never seen before.
It had touches of coxcomb
and then it also looked like my pampas plume variety.
And I realised that they had cross pollinated.
And this plant was big, it was bushy,
it had a pink tip to it, but then it had this feathered edge,
which I absolutely love.
So I harvested seeds from it and turned it into these hundred plants.
Interestingly enough,
we noticed about 25% of the seeds produced this feather look,
but yellow. 25% produced what we wanted,
25 this plummy yellow and then 25% of pink plume.
So what we’re gonna do this year is
I’m gonna harvest seeds from the type that I like the effect of
and then boom!
We’ll see if we can come up with a bebloom in variety.
Give it a try, guys. Bye.
